Portrait Lighting Practice

I went to the fabric store today and bought some heavy fabric  for use as a  backdrop to practice studio lighting. The piece I bought was only 8ft x 5ft; which greatly limited who could fill in as a subject in the shot. It took two cheese sticks and a bath, but I finally found someone that had nothing better to do. This is about as simple as it gets for a lighting set up since I currently only have the option of using one off-camera flash. My key light was a canon speedlight, shot through a translucent umbrella, with a silver reflector set up opposite to fill in just a touch highlights. I’ve worked with better… but not many. Ellie is a cheap date-two cheese sticks, she should hold out for more! Great photography, Kory.

    Hi there….

Ran across your site while searching for squirrels info believe it or not!

Love the Boston snaps. Really good pictures and adorable too. I had a relationship for 8 years. We got Boston together here in my home town. The relationship had two girls I loved and the dog I loved….and the woman —- NOT!

Anyway….makes me think of Fidgit (his name)….we called him all kinds of names tho. Super smart lil dog. Greatest lil dog I’ve seen in a long, long time. I really miss him. So the snaps on your page brought some nice memories.

Maybe one day I’ll get one. A dog isn’t in my plans right now tho.

Just wanted to pass that along.

    Best wishes —-

    Thomas
